Dear Readers,
We are dancing ourselves ever closer to the most festive time of year. Hello, Halloween, and on to celebrating our Thanksgiving bounty and praising the gift of our Savior on Christmas!
Comfort food is such a beautiful way to embrace the changing seasons. When I think of Fall, my mouth waters in anticipation of all the lovely sweets. Nothing goes better with a hot cup of coffee than a generous slice of homemade pumpkin roll or rum cake. My mom has perfected both recipes, so thanks for passing these traditions on to make these treats. It wouldn’t be the same without them!
Today, I will share the most scrumptious recipe for Rum Cake…everything is better with butter and rum, right?
This is NOT a dry bundt cake that leaves you unfulfilled. It is moist, deliciously flavored, and perfect for sharing! The joy of sharing this cake with loved ones makes it even more special.
You should add this to the menu for your next family gathering. Let me know if you try it out!

Ashley’s Famous Rum Cake
For the Cake:
1 pkg. Butter recipe golden cake mix
1 (3 ¾ oz. ) pkg instant vanilla pudding
½ cup light rum (We like Bacardi)
½ cup cooking oil
4 eggs
½ cup water
For the Glaze:
1 cup sugar
¼ cup rum
1 stick butter
¼ cup water
Directions:
Grease and flour your bundt pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large mixing bowl, mix together the cake mix, pudding, rum, cooking oil, eggs, and water.
Pour evenly into your greased and flour bundt pan.
Bake the cake in the oven for 40-50 minutes - checking for doneness with a toothpick or cake tester.
Let the cake cool for 10 minutes. While cooling, prepare the hot rum glaze.
In a saucepan, combine the sugar, rum, butter, and water. Bring to a slow boil for 2-3 minutes until the rum glaze is melted.
Pour the rum glaze into the bundt pan over the cake. Let the cake rest for about 30 minutes, allowing the glaze to absorb before dumping it on a plate.
Serve and enjoy!
*No crumbs will be left
The original recipe came from a well-loved church cookbook. I love that!
